Out of the campsite and onto the beach!

Today was momentous! Set as ‘move out day’ from the campsite which has been our home for the last month, I was rather anxious as to how all our belongings would actually fit into Maggie (not to mention how she would manage to drive). Nevertheless, with all our worldly possessions set on the ground around us and the laws of physics and space against us, the giant game of Tetris begun. Now, I’ll be honest, not one single swear word was uttered! Objects were categorised according to use and weight, and starting with the heaviest first Maggie was slowly filled, and then stuffed full. We still have things that need to be fitted onto the car, tools that will be used and then thrown, and will most likely have to down size our bags of clothes, but we did it! And she drove like a dream!
We had every intention of driving to Folkestone, inching our way closer to Dover, but our rear windows are being tinted and due to a small mishap (tinting guy kinda dropped and smashed one of them), we decided to pull up camp at Normans Bay and have a beach camp. Normans Bay is about half way between Hastings and Eastbourne, and whilst camping on the beach is technically illegal, it’s a very popular spot full of all sorts of converted quirky campers, families and surfers just looking for a night of sleeping to the sound of the waves.
It is such a relief to have moved on – you don’t have to move far, you just have to move!
